Common FAQs
How do you use garden paper?
Gardening paper is most commonly used as a weed barrier in garden beds or any other planting area. To install it all you need to do is place it over the surface and secure it with landscape staples (we recommend our circle top landscape pins). You can choose to place a layer of mulch or other organic material over the paper.
Does garden paper work?
Garden paper is a great solution to suppress weeds. It does this in two ways. One by blocking sunlight to the soils surface, which prevents weed seeds from germinating and growing. Secondly, by retaining soil moisture, since weeds often thrive in drier soils.
Do you need to put anything between landscaping paper and mulch?
No, but placing compost, wood chips, or any other organic material can help to improve the health of the soil and provide more nutrients to the plants.
How long does landscape paper last?
Landscaping paper is not a permanent weed control solution. Landscape paper’s lifespan depends on a variety of factors like weather, soil type, and quality of the paper. Most landscape papers last at least one growing season and more durable ones can last 3+ years.
